Scar Tissue Release
McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release (MSTR®) is a gentle, natural, and non-invasive manual therapy designed to treat scar tissue, adhesions, and fibrosis caused by surgery or injury. Developed by Alistair McLoughlin, MSTR uses precise, pain-free finger pressure to help restore tissue mobility, improve circulation, reduce discomfort, and support the body’s natural healing process.
Unlike many scar treatments, MSTR works directly with the affected tissue without the need for oils, machines, or invasive techniques
What Can MSTR Help With?
MSTR is effective for a wide range of scars, including:
Caesarean (C-section) scars
Hysterectomy scars
Spinal surgery scars
Mastectomy scars
Trauma and accident wounds
Burn scars
Both new and old scars can respond well to treatment — even those that are decades old.
Benefits of MSTR
Scar tissue can create hidden restrictions in the body, affecting movement, posture, and comfort. MSTR aims to:
Release long-standing adhesions and restrictions
Reduce pain and sensitivity
Improve range of motion
Enhance circulation and tissue health
Support the release of stored emotional tension sometimes associated with trauma
Many clients report noticeable changes in how the scar feels and moves after just one session.
What to Expect
Treatments are typically over three visits but are brief, often lasting between 5–15 minutes, depending on the size and nature of the scar. The technique is gentle and comfortable, making it suitable for most people.
A Research-Supported Approach
MSTR is a research-supported technique that can be used as a standalone therapy or combined with some of the other treatments I can offer, such as Kinesiology or Emmett Technique, to enhance overall outcomes.
If you have a scar that feels tight, uncomfortable, numb, or restrictive, McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release offers a safe and effective way to restore ease and freedom of movement.
